DESCRIPTION:The Career Guidance Unit of the University of Jaffna successfully organized the “Competitive Exams Preparation – Lecture Series” on 08th April 2026 from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. at the Library Auditorium. \nThe programme was conducted for students from the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Science with the objective of enhancing students’ aptitude skills and preparedness for competitive examinations. \nThe resource person for the session was Sivapathasundrampillai Navaneethan\, Deputy Director of Education (Mathematics)\, Provincial Department of Education\, Northern Province. He delivered an engaging lecture on Aptitude\, focusing on logical reasoning\, analytical thinking\, numerical problem-solving\, and examination strategies commonly required in competitive examinations. \nDuring the session\, students were introduced to practical techniques for improving speed\, accuracy\, and confidence in answering aptitude-related questions. The interactive discussions and exercises helped participants strengthen their problem-solving abilities and examination readiness. \nA total of 26 students from the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Science participated in the programme and actively engaged in the learning activities conducted during the session. \nThe lecture series served as a valuable opportunity for students to improve their aptitude skills and enhance their confidence in facing future competitive examinations and career opportunities.

K. Keerthirajan\, Development Officer at the Divisional Secretariat – Nallur\, who delivered an informative lecture on Comprehension. The session focused on enhancing reading\, interpretation\, and analytical skills required for competitive examinations. Participants were introduced to effective comprehension techniques\, time management strategies\, and methods to answer questions accurately and efficiently. \nStudents actively participated in the discussions and practical exercises conducted during the session\, which helped improve their confidence and understanding in handling comprehension-based examination questions. \nA total of 20 students from the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Science participated in the programme and benefited from the guidance and knowledge shared during the session. \nThe lecture series served as a valuable platform for students to strengthen their examination skills and enhance their readiness for future competitive examinations and career opportunities.

The session focused on important topics commonly covered in competitive examinations\, including current affairs\, social awareness\, and effective examination preparation techniques. \nDuring the session\, participants were encouraged to improve their reading habits\, critical thinking skills\, and awareness of national and international developments to enhance their performance in competitive examinations. \nA total of 27 students from the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Science participated in the programme and actively engaged in the discussions and learning activities conducted during the session. \nThe lecture series provided a valuable opportunity for students to strengthen their knowledge\, improve their confidence\, and prepare effectively for future competitive examinations and career opportunities.
